Taliban Commander Killed in Clashes with Afghan Forces in Herat
TEHRAN (defapress)- Mullah Mustafa, a senior commander of Taliban terrorist group, was killed in a clash with the Afghan security forces on Wednesday afternoon, local officials confirmed on Thursday.
The clashes started in Gozara district of the province after police launched an operation, Tolonews reported.
Mustafa and one of his bodyguards were killed, a spokesman for the provincial police chief Abdul Ahad Walizada said.
“The commander was involved in a number of insurgency attacks in Herat city and Southern districts of Herat,” Walizada said, adding that the police also discovered some weapons.
However, he did not provide further details about the operation.
The Taliban has not yet commented.
