Terrorists Likely to Engage in Fresh Infighting in Northern Syria after Assassination Attempts

The terrorists stationed in Northern Syria are likely to engage in fresh infighting again after over 100 militants were killed and wounded in tens of assassination attempts in Idlib in the past few weeks.

Terrorists Likely to Engage in Fresh Infighting in Northern Syria after Assassination AttemptsTEHRAN (Defapress)- Field sources in Idlib reported on Sunday that over 50 assassination attempts have been carried out in Idlib province in the past 72 hours, adding that most of the attacks have happened in armed assaults.


They added that during the unprecedented assassination operations which happened after a fragile ceasefire among the terrorist groups in Northern Syria, over 10 militant commanders have been killed and over 100 terrorists have also been gunned down, stressing that a fresh round of infighting is now likely more than ever.


Over 2,000 members of Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) and Syria's Tahrir Front have been killed and more than 4,000 others wounded in several rounds of infighting in the past few months.


In a relevant development on Saturday, Abdullah Muhammad al-Muhaysini, the commander and Mufti (religious leader) of Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at, escaped death in an assassination attempt which injured him.


Al-Muhaysini's car was targeted by a roadside bomb near Saraqeb in the outskirts of Idlib, but he narrowly escaped the assassination attempt, field sources said. Meantime, some reports said he has been wounded in the attack.


The attempt on al-Muhaysini comes as an atmosphere of fear is prevalent among terrorist commanders in Idlib after around 30 assassination operations were carried out in the province.


Also, Commander of Jeish al-Izzeh terrorist group Khaled Mara'ati nom de guerre Abu Lahab who had been injured in an attack by unknown assailants in Khan Sheikhoun city in Southern Idlib has succumbed to his injuries.


Meantime, unknown assailants exploded a bomb in the headquarters of Katibeh Banesh of Syria's Tahrir Front in Banesh city in Northeastern Idlib, killing a number of terrorists.


Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at has declared curfew for three days in Idlib city.
