Militants Surrendering to Syrian Army in Dara’aTEHRAN (Defapress) – As the army is liberating more areas in the southwestern province of Dara’a, Al Mayadeen TV reported that many armed opposition groups in villages on the outskirts of Dara’a city have surrendered to the army and agreed on a deal to cease hostility.

Reconciliation agreements have been achieved in several residential areas on the southern and northern outskirts of Dara’a.

Reports suggest that the military forces’ success to liberate more areas in Dara’a province is paving the way for the Syrian government’s full control over Nassib border crossing.

The situation in Dara’a has escalated in recent weeks with militants shelling the cities of Dara’a and As-Suwayda.

On Friday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) warned that the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group has established control over the western part of Dara’a province and is holding hostages there.

"To add to the bleak situation facing civilians, there are also reports that ISIL fighters in control of the Yarmouk Basin area in the western part of Dara’a Governorate are not allowing civilians to leave areas under their control," Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said
