Iran's Petrochemical Exports Increase 76% in 5 Years

TEHRAN (defapress)- Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh announced on Tuesday that the country has been able to boost exports of its petrochemical products in the past 5 years.

Iran's Petrochemical Exports Increase 76% in 5 Years"12 petrochemical plans have been launched on $5bln investment since 2013," Zanganeh said, addressing a ceremony to inaugurate several petrochemical projects in Assalouyeh.

"In this period of time, the weight of petrochemical products has increased 33% and their exports by increased 76%," he added.

Zanganeh also said that production of ethan oil which was 3.8mln tons in 2013 has grown to 8mln tons this year.

President Rouhani officially inaugurated three petrochemical projects in Assalouyeh, Southern Iran, on Tuesday.

The projects are Marjan Petrochemical Plant, Phase III of Pardis Petrochemical Plant and Phase I of Damavand Petrochemical Plant.

The projects add 3.4 million tons to the country's annual petrochemical production capacity and have been built with $1.85 billion of investment.
