Kremlin Does Not Think US Is behind Unrest in France

TEHRAN (defapress) - The current mass public unrest in France is entirely an internal affair of that country and one can hardly suspect any US influence on these events, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Tuesday.

Kremlin Does Not Think US Is behind Unrest in France"I would not say so," Peskov said when asked for a comment on speculations the US was behind mass unrest in France.

"In general, this is absolutely and entirely an internal affair of France, which is a rather important partner to us in bilateral relations and in international affairs," Peskov said, Tass news agency reported.

"Moscow’s prime concern is the unrest should not cause casualties, in particular, Russian citizens remain unharmed."

Since the middle of November France has seen mass demonstrations of protest against soaring car fuel prices. The demonstrators wear yellow vests - high-vis tops motorists are obliged to carry in their vehicles under French law in case of a breakdown - which explains the movement’s unofficial nickname in the media. Paris last Saturday saw another spate of demonstrations that developed into mass rioting. Cases of looting and vandalism were frequent.
