Saudis escalating attacks on Yemen's Al Hudaydah

The Saudi-led coalition has violated the truce agreement 223 times since the beginning of the cease fire, Yemeni TV Channel 'Al-Masirah' quoted Brigadier General Yahya Saree as saying Saturday night.

Saudis have so far targeted different areas in Al Hudaydah with 51 missiles and 155 artillery shells, Saree added.

He went on to say that Saudi jet fighters have bombarded Sana'a, Saada, Ma'rib, Al Jawf and Taiz 42 times.

Earlier, the United Nations Security Council ratified its first resolution dubbed Resolution 2451 to support the Stockholm agreement and establishing truce in important Yemeni ports.

The resolution was proposed on December 17, and the UK distributed its draft on December 19.

Russia, China and Kuwait were against some articles of the resolution including, those related to Saudi Arabia pressures against Iran and the kingdom's claims that the country is sending missiles to the Yemeni Ansarullah movement.

Meanwhile, the US has also presented a draft which mostly focused on humanitarian issues and controlling transit in ports and has omitted the article related to war crimes.

The reason behind US concerns was that, due to UN secretary general reports on the heinous killing of Yemeni citizens in the Saudi-led air strikes, the coalition commanders and the Saudi officials who authorized the attacks are subject to war crimes.

The resolution mainly focuses on sending essential commodities to the Yemenis, supporting Stockholm agreement, assigning the Secretary-General of the United Nations to implement it and observing the ceasefire.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating military campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the aim of bringing the government of Mansour Hadi back to power and crushing the country’s Ansarullah Movement.

Some 16,000 Yemenis have been killed and thousands more injured since the onset of the Saudi-led aggression.

The assaults of the Saudi-led coalition forces have failed to stop the Yemenis from resisting the aggression.
