KRG President Condoles with Ayatollah Khamenei on General Soleimani Martyrdom

In a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei on Monday, Nechirvan Barzani said the government and people of Kurdistan Region have been deeply saddened by the loss of General Soleimani.

Paying tribute to the late Iranian commander as a friend of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region in the war against dictatorship and as a supporter of Kurds in the fight against the Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group, Barzani said all authorities of Iraq and the KRG have repeatedly praised General Soleimani’s efforts and devotion.

Barzani offered his condolences to Ayatollah Khamenei and the family of the popular Iranian commander.

General Soleimani, the deputy head of Iraq’s Hashd al-Sha’abi (PMU), and a number of their entourage were killed in a strike by American drones near Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of Friday.

The White House and the Pentagon confirmed the assassination of General Soleimani in Iraq, saying the attack was carried out at the direction of US President Donald Trump.
