Mayors of Tehran, Kabul Discuss Joint Action against COVID-19

Mayors of Tehran, Kabul Discuss Joint Action against COVID-19In a videoconference session on Friday, Mayor of Tehran Pirooz Hanachi and Mayor of Kabul Mohammad Daoud Sultanzoy weighed plans to promote cooperation between the capitals of the two neighboring states in various fields.

Highlighting the common cultural and religious values between the Iranian and Afghan people, Hanachi said the outbreak of the coronavirus has made it necessary for the cities to enhance coordination in the fight against the disease.

Tehran and Kabul have a lot of things in common and can share many issues, he added.

For his part, Sultanzoy said the Municipality of Kabul seeks to take advantage of the experiences of Tehran to develop the urban structures and improve the relations between the people of Afghanistan and Iran.

He also invited the mayor of Tehran to pay a visit to the Afghan capital after containment of COVID-19 to hold meetings and share experiences.

In remarks on April 14, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force said his units are ready to provide other countries with the experiences in the fight against coronavirus at the discretion of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Later in that month, the Iranian Defense Ministry provided Afghanistan with a consignment of coronavirus diagnostic test kits and voiced readiness to share the experiences gained by the Iranian military forces with Afghanistan.
