Biography of martyr Mansour SattariMansour Sattari was born in 1948 in Valiabad, Varamin. His father, Hassan, was a knowledgeable, literary man and a poet. Mansour was one of the best students at all levels of his education.
Seyed Mohammad Sadri, Mansour's chemistry teacher, says about him: "… In the severe cold of winter, when the road surface was covered with sticky mud, Mansour walked the distance from Vali Abad to the school. During Ramadan, although he had not yet reached the age of religious responsibility, he used to fast and offer his morning prayers on his way to school. He was very talented and intelligent in learning, and I was sure he would be an important person, but I could not believe that the day would come when I would be alive and my good and kind student would have left this world..."
After high school, martyr Sattari entered the officer's college and then joined the Army Air Force. After passing specialized courses in controlling fighter jets, he was sent to the United States and returned to Iran in 1972 and was assigned to Babolsar radar station. In 1975, he was accepted in electronic engineering, but with the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the beginning of the imposed war, he left the university and defended his homeland. That great martyr has four children with higher university education.
The irreplaceable role of Martyr Sattari in the imposed war
During the war, this skillful and resourceful commander was engaged in various military missions to defend the country and the ideals of the Islamic system. Serving in Sobashi air defense radar station in Hamedan, Dezful, Abdanan, Sarbandar increased his experience in his field of specialization. He was interested in learning new knowledge, and this led him to show his competence in the Kheybar operation and subsequent operations, especially in the control of fighter jets. Martyr Sattari was the originator of advanced defense tactics that established a basic and memorable infrastructure, including the establishment of the Air University. He established the University of Aerospace, the School of Nursing, and the Air Force Pathology Center, and established a surveillance network. This committed and competent commander implemented many plans and initiatives to equip radar and defense systems during the eight years of the holy defense and multiplied the air force's ability to shoot down Ba'athist enemy aircraft.
Sattari's competency and tact to revive the Air Force
During the imposed war and in 1983, this innovative commander was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Operations of the Air Force Defense Command due to his extra activities in the implementation of war plans.
The period of Martyr Sattari's command over the Air Force from the beginning to the end was crucial and sensitive. According to many military experts, Martyr Sattari was one of the most creative commanders in history, because he was able to make valuable achievements at that critical time which were recorded as a great model for the next generations.
Ayatollah Khamenei says about his valuable actions in the field of scientific-military designs:
"The construction of ground-based radars and ground-guided equipment and their very difficult and complex use is one of the honors of the Air Force, of which Sattari was one of the heroes of this field before he became the commander of the Air Force."
Mansour Sattari was appointed as the Commander of the Air Force of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran in February 1987 with the rank of Colonel due to merit, expertise, and competencies, and he was in charge of this position until his martyrdom.
Excerpts from the valuable services of Martyr Sattari during his tenure as Air Force Commander
Many military pioneers and experts believe that in the situation where the Ba'athist regime had the most powerful equipment donated by the Western world and providing new military equipment for our country was impossible, without the initiatives of nobles such as martyr Sattari, the air defense of the country would be blocked.
Martyrdom
Finally, this military genius had a plane crash on 5 January 1995, along with several Air Force officials, after attending the graduation ceremony of a group of pilot students at "Shahid Babaei Air Base" on their way back to Tehran.

In the Kheybar operation, during the chemical bombardment, Martyr Sattari gave his mask to the old man driving the loader. Because of this, he was deprived of his sense of smell until he was martyred, and he hid it until the end of his life.
Martyrdom quoted by martyr Sattari's wife
As he was leaving, he asked who was at home. I said, "Only Sorena is at home."
Mansour went and kissed Sorena, who was asleep, and when he came down the stairs, I saw that his eyes were red and he was rubbing them with his hands.
He had cried and then he came to me; He had a small bag, in which he put his personal belongings, handed it to me, and said, "Keep it somewhere safe!… Take care of yourself and the children! Goodbye."
When I heard the news of Mansour's martyrdom, I controlled myself not to cry, when suddenly I saw my little girl come to me, although her eyes were red, she did not cry. Because I had taught the children not to cry anywhere and to talk instead. My daughter hugged me and in her childish tone said to me: "My dear mother! My father taught us to feel that he is not with us from time to time! We think that our father has gone on a one-month mission... And when 6 months passed, we think that our father had gone on a 6-month mission, and when a year passed, we think that he has gone on a one-year mission...It's important for us that you keep yourself for us."
And she gave me a beautiful example that calmed me down a lot: "Mother! We are all like puppets whose thread is the hand of God and we laugh whenever he wants, we cry whenever he wants and we all obey his will! "
My daughter with her young age calmed me down such that and taught me a great lesson so much that at that moment I admired Mansour and myself.
