Supreme Leader leads funeral prayers for late Ayatollah Kani
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday led funeral prayers for burial of the late Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani at Tehran University campus.
A large number of Iranian people from all walks of life as well as high-ranking officials, including President Hassan Rouhani, Chairman of Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani have participated the funeral procession.
The body of the deceased Ayatollah Kani, the former chairman of the Assembly of Experts, is to be laid to rest at the holy shrine of Shah Abdolazim (the fifth generation descendent of Imam Hassan Ibn Ali the second Shia Imam).
The Shah Abdolazīm Shrine located in Rey district in southern Tehran.
